Local florist Salisburys of Somerset makes it to Top Florist list - June 2008 Recently The Independent newspaper produced its Top 50 Florists list. Trouble was they missed out a whole load of really hip, hop, happening florists around the UK which is why Florist & Wholesale Buyer (F&WB), the only independent trade magazine for the flower industry, is using its 60 years of experience and unique industry contacts to create its own Little Black Book of top florists at www.masterflorist.com.
And local florist Paul Horton who runs Salisburys of Somerset in Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare is on the list. Because F&WB know that when it comes to buying flowers the best way to get a stunning design, full value and do your bit for the planet is to contact the actual shop that will make your special gift and that’s why they’ve been happy to add Salisburys of Somerset to their list You see, order from a company like Interflora and they simply take a hefty commission for passing it on to one of their members. Order from someone like Next, and chances are you’ll get a bunch of flowers in a big cardboard box delivered by a courier. Not only a lot of unnecessary packaging but often excessive road miles as well. By using a local florist like Salisburys of Somerset, not only do you speak to the person making your design so that it’s really personal but you get better value as well because all the money goes into the order. What’s more you’re doing your bit for the planet as there are less delivery miles and less packaging. The list, compiled from sources throughout the industry, is based on real knowledge of the florists involved, and in most cases backed up by personal visits and test orders so F&WB can hand on heart say they trust these florists to do a good job. Commenting on her Little Black Book, Caroline Marshall – Foster, Managing Editor of Florist & Wholesale Buyer, said: “Some of the lists The Independent have compiled are great fun but when it comes to florists we felt they had left a lot of gaps and not showcased just how many good local florists there were around the UK. My ultimate rule of thumb is would I use this florist to send my Mum flowers. All of our Top Florists, including Salisburys of Somerset well and truly fall into that category.”
Salisburys of Somerset - A New Name, the Same Quality - March 2007 After trading as Salisbury Florists for the past 50 years, we changed our trading name to Salisburys of Somerset in March. We are however now doing much more than just flowers and our new name better reflects the range of products we are now offering. Salisbury was the name of the original founders of our business, but many people thought that we were actually based in the city of Salisbury. Our new name will also immediately identify us with our home county.

Jewellery collections now available online - August 2007
At long last, after a very busy few months, we are now finding the time to make some of our jewellery collections available online. Because many of our pieces are exclusive, one-off editions this is not an easy task, but it is our aim to have at least a selection from each of our ranges available by the end of September. Please look back regularly to see our latest additions.
